About Dave
At 13 years old I was introduced to an electronic keyboard by a teacher at school. I was hooked! I couldn’t believe I could achieve such a variety of sounds from one single instrument. Scraping together every last penny I bought my first keyboard and started lessons not long after. Friends would ask if I could teach them how to play but I always replied “I wasn’t qualified to do that”. So I did something about it. After three years of study on keyboard, organ and piano, I gained my Diploma of licentiate from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1991. I immediately started my teaching business with one thought in mind. I wanted my students to become better players than me and have fun doing it! I strongly believe that I teach my students to one day teach themselves. After all isn’t that what we really want to do? Be able to listen/read a piece of music and play it without always needing a teacher to help us.

Dave is a very patient and kind teacher who has helped me, as a mature student, achieve so much more than I ever imagined. I played piano from primary to secondary school but never sat exams. I had some knowledge and had gone on to learn to play violin. Due to an injured shoulder I could not longer play so decided to get a keyboard. I have since achieved Grade 4 theory and Grade 7 keyboard and am now studying for the next two grades. Anytime my self belief has faltered, Dave has pulled me through the doubts and encouraged me onwards. Can’t recommend him highly enough.
